What the Layers Hold is a body of work that explores memory, impermanence, and transformation through layered mixed-media compositions. Geometric structures meet organic gestures, creating pieces that feel both intentional and intuitive, weathered and alive. Each work invites slow looking and quiet discovery - an exploration of what time erases, what it inscribes deeper, and the hidden beauty found beneath the surface.

“Nothing is ever truly erased. It’s only covered, softened by time, altered by light, layered by experience.”

This series of What the Layers Hold is a meditation on memory, impermanence, and the quiet transformations of time. Through layered printing, painting and collage, these mixed-media works explore what is visible on the surface - and what quietly remains beneath.

Geometric grids and organic marks intertwine, reflecting the tension between structure and erosion, control and surrender. Circles echo cycles of nature, breath, and renewal, while weathered textures speak to aging, transformation, and the fragile beauty of imperfection.

Built slowly and intuitively, each piece carries the rhythm and patience of handcraft, inviting the viewer to slow down and discover subtle details that emerge with time. These works are not immediate answers but quiet invitations - to look closely, to feel deeply, and to consider what your own layers hold.

Memory Maps traces the quiet, unspoken landscapes of the mind - the places where memories collect, fade, and resurface in unexpected ways. Layers of subtle textures and shifting forms come together like a topography of thought, where each mark feels like a fragment of a story - some remembered, others only sensed.

This piece invites contemplation and slow looking. It’s about finding meaning in what isn’t fully visible, about the way memories map themselves onto our inner worlds, shaping who we are long after the original moments have passed. There’s a calmness here, but also movement - an ongoing journey through the layers we carry.

The Way Things Fade is a quiet meditation on time - how it softens the sharp edges of our memories, leaving behind something gentler, more abstract, yet deeply felt. Subtle textures and layered tones create a sense of something both fleeting and enduring, a reminder that even as details fade, their essence remains.

Step into the enchanting world of my embroidery collection, where every hand stitch is a whimsical journey through fabric, guided by the dance of needle and thread. One stitch following another, creating a melody of shapes and patterns that echo the playful spirit of my art practice.

In this mindful exploration, there's no rush, no skipping - just a close connection with the fabric. The folds, random and intuitive, become a canvas for inspiration. As the thread traces the needle’s path, it responds to the fabric's folds, lines and corners, embracing them with curiosity and wonder.

Contemporary Embroidery

Hello and welcome,

I am Tatjana, a textile and mixed media artist. I love to find inspiration in nature, on hikes in the mountains, in the forest of my hometown or on a distant beach. Traveling and exploring different cultures are an endless source for my inspiration, shapes, lines and color. My work is abstract with layers, textures and patterns. I am drawn to exploring the beauty in the details of the everyday life.

My goal is to share the feeling of wonder and mindfulness with those who engage with my art and I invite you to find a little piece of yourself in the world of contemporary embroidery and mixed media art.
